Phillips SPC 900c webcam

Pros: single usb connection for sound and vision, top quality images
Cons: seems only suitable for internal use, doesn't like bright light,

so far so excellent, except for getting high quality sound and high quality video together. It seems to be one or the other, I only have a 2.4 processor, perhaps that is what holds me back. It follows my movement, has a simple but effective manual focus and easy to use photo viewer. also has a handy thread to fix it to a camera tripod if needed.
