      Review summary: Is the Lifecam the best option for video recording?

      Pros: Relatively easy to install. Good picture quality

      Cons: Insists on trying to load Microsoft Live during install to use "full functionality". Lead not long enough to plug into machine under desk. Slightly fiddly stand/clip arrangement

      Verdict: An average webcam for video communication, offering good picture quality. Minor niggles (stand and lead length) let the device down slightly

      Pros: Tight integration with Windows Live Messenger ; built-in mic offers noise cancellation

      Cons: Video deteriorates at highest quality setting or in dim lighting ; poor digital zoom ; digital stills can be grainy

      Verdict: This high-def Webcam promises plenty of features but stutters with high-resolution video.
