HP Photosmart A826 Snapshot Photo Printer

Review summary: The advanced features of this snapshot photo printer--such as a touch screen and 5-by-7-inch media handling--might merit the price, but it's still awfully high.

Pros: Large, intuitive touch-screen interface ; Takes 4-by-6-inch and 5-by-7-inch media

Cons: Slow ; very expensive ; Input tray is awkward

Verdict: The starter cartridge that comes with the Photosmart A826 can print up to 20 4-by-6-inch photos. The cost per photo beyond that can be reasonable: HP's Value Pack includes enough ink and paper for 120 4-by-6-inch photos and costs $35, or about 29 ...

      Award: Editor's Choice!

Review summary: The HP Photosmart A826 snapshot printer offers an attractive design, is easy and fun to use, and works better without a PC than any other snapshot printer we've reviewed thanks to its huge touch screen, but we wonder who will spend US$250 for a ...

Pros: Fast, high-quality prints ; lots of fun features such as clip art and captions ; per-print costs are in line with other snapshot printers' costs ; touch screen is easy to use and great for displaying slide shows ; menus are logically organized

Cons: Expensive ; album options are a bit limited

Verdict: Less expensive alternatives for snapshot printing include the Canon Selphy CP740 and the Epson PictureMate Pal, though admittedly, neither is nearly as fun to use as the Photosmart A826. Despite the high price, HP has broken new ground with this ...

      Hewlett-Packard Photosmart A826

      Pros: User-friendly, intuitive menu

Cons: It's expensive, dark prints are a little dull, it's not portable, average performance

Verdict: The HP Photosmart A826 is a great choice for beginning photographers who want to print their digital photos as easily as possible. The printer's case design could use some improvement for greater ease of handling, and dark prints appear a little dull; ...

      Photosmart A826 Photo Printer

      By Melissa Riofrio

Review summary: The advanced features of this snapshot photo printer--such as a touch screen and 5-by-7-inch media handling--might merit the price, but it's still awfully high.

Pros: Large, intuitive touch-screen interface, Takes 4-by-6-inch and 5-by-7-inch media

Cons: Slow ; very expensive, Input tray is awkward

Verdict: (the other higher-end snapshot printer we tested recently), it would probably be more of a category killer. Those people willing to pay for it most likely value features and ease of use over efficiency or economy
