      Epson Stylus Pro 3800

      By Nessan Cleary

Review summary: As a general rule, the market for A3 printers and smaller tends to be home and office, while the market for A1 printers and above tends to be bureaux and other professional users. A2 printers have mostly been viewed as a niche market that falls ...

Verdict: The Stylus Pro 3800 looks very much like a scaled-up version of the R2400, having the same boxy black and silver looks. For an A2 printer it's reasonably small - measuring just 68cm across - making it a feasible replacement for an A3 printer. It's ...

      Epson Stylus Pro 3800 Review

      By Jon Canfield

Review summary: Setup of the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 is very straight forward, and thanks to the smaller size and lighter weight (about 43 pounds), it can actually be done by a single person. The printer dimensions are ...

Verdict: The Epson Stylus Pro 3800 is a real value giving you the ability to print up to 17" wide on a variety of media types. The UltraChrome K3 inks have a good track record and with the new dithering ...

Review summary: The Stylus Pro 3800 is small enough to be a genuine desktop printer, yet produces images of a quality you would expect from larger production printers

Pros: No need to change between different black inks, wide range of media available, wide colour gamut, print driver supports Intel Macs

Cons: No roll feeder which makes it diffi cult to print panoramas, printer changes between photo and matte black inks, not as robust as other professional printers

Verdict: The Stylus Pro 3800 overcomes the main limitation of the 4800 in so far as you don't have to keep swapping ink cartridges around. It's also slightly smaller and quite a lot cheaper. The only real fault is the lack of a roll-feeder option, which is ...

      Stylus Pro 3800

      By Simon Eccles

Review summary: Epson's new Stylus Pro 3800 fills a gap in Epson's range between the A3+ Stylus Photo R2400 and the heavier-duty A2+ Stylus Pro 4800.

Pros: High quality photographic images on sheets from A6 to A2+. Excellent B&W prints. Holds both gloss and matt inks.

Cons: No roll feeder. Flimsier than the Stylus Pro 4800.

Verdict: R2400 cartridges cost around £9 each (which works out at around £770 per litre) and require frequent replacement. The larger 3800 cartridges cost £30 plus VAT (about £380 per litre). The 4800 can take either 110ml or 220ml cartridges at £37 plus VAT ...
