      Review summary: The speed came with a price however as we noted very visible banding through the photographs in our samples. This ruined an otherwise very vibrant and well contrasted print out. Repeating the test produced the same results sadly.

      Verdict: Despite its eight tank ink cartridge design, the Epson Stylus Photo R800 seemed to suffer from print quality issues. This was a shame as the printer was quite fast.

      Review summary: This fast and quiet printer produces beautiful, dot-free prints-it could be the only photo printer you'll ever need.

      Pros: Outstanding print quality ; extended color gamut ; extremely quiet ; quick

      Cons: None significant

      Verdict: The R800 uses a minuscule 1.5-picoliter print head. This allows a much smaller drop of ink to be placed on the paper, giving the prints a smoother look than previous models could achieve

      Pros: Excellent print quality ; relatively fast photo printing ; flexible printer driver ; no need to swap Matte Black and Photo Black cartridges
