Review summary: Like its predecessor, the Stylus Photo 2200, the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 isn't for everyone: it's expensive both to buy and operate, it's a space hog, and it's a bit awkwardly designed. But when your images mean everything to you--especially if they ...

Pros: The prints! They have richness and vibrancy. Sumptuous is the best word. Resolution is not quite as acute as the best Canon printers, but this is probably the trade-off for using the long life pigment inks.
Cons: The user manual is an html file on disc. This is cheap! And for an expensive and complex piece of equipment is simply unacceptable. This is what cost the printer half a star.

Pros: Excellent photo prints, quiet, USB and Firewire connectivity, decent supplied media.
Cons: Expensive, black inks switching required for best results.
Verdict: If you're serious about photo printing and price isn't a worry, the R2400 is the best tool for the job.
