REVIEW - CANON SELPHY ES1 printer

Review summary: This is a portable dye sublimation printer that produces 10x15cm prints. The printer footprint is 200x105mm - a tiny desk area made possible by its curious paper handling mechanism. The paper and dye come together in a pack that inserts into the side ...

Pros: The consistency of output is reassuring. The paper is printed with a postcard form on the reverse.

Cons: We find the stand-alone navigation so perplexing that we can only do it with the manual in hand. The tiny LCD screen is not much use for image editing.

Verdict: This printer is an attractive complement to a compact camera. For anyone who is satisfied with standard postcard size prints it is well worth a look. We found that the setup stalled at the point where it is supposed to detect the printer and would not ...

      Canon SELPHY ES1

      By Shaun Marin

Review summary: It's one of the best dye-sub models on the market and is capable of producing vibrant, detailed pictures in just over a minute. Sluggish operating system aside, there's very little not to like here.

Pros: Colourful prints ; quiet in action ; good build quality ; small size

Cons: Sluggish operating system ; having to buy new cartridges all the time

Verdict: The ES1 fits in at the slender end of the printer market and is a mere 199mm by 177mm by 113mm. It's about the same size as a handbag, or for people who prefer to think in terms of technology, it's similar in width to a couple of 7-inch-screened ...

Review: Canon Selphy ES1 compact photo printer

      By Andrea-Marie Vassou

Review summary: Different design and different features make the Canon's latest Selphy an interesting prospect

Pros: Good quality prints from memory card and digital cameras, Good quality prints from memory card and digital cameras, Small and light , Creative features are fun and easy to use

Cons: No USB cable for computer printing, No USB cable for computer printing, Prints from computer can be faded and blurred

Verdict: The Canon Selphy ES1 is a portable printer with good creative features. However printing from a memory card or camera seems to result in much better prints then from a computer.
