      Dell Latitude E6500

      By Sandra Vogel

Review summary: Excellent performance Robust casing Auto-adjusting screen brightness and keyboard backlight Highly configurable Tags: Battery, Intel Corp., E6500

Pros: Excellent performance Robust casing Auto-adjusting screen brightness and keyboard backlight Highly configurable

Cons: Largest hard drive is just 250GB Essential options soon drive the price up from the entry level

Verdict: The Latitude E6500 is an attractive 15.4in. notebook, not least because you can configure it to closely match your needs. The backlit keyboard is well executed, and we also like the auto-adjusting screen brightness.

      Dell Latitude E6500 review

By Craig Simms and Alex Serpo

Review summary: With the style of a consumer model combined with enough features to satisfy the business user, the Dell Latitude E6500 has thrown down the gauntlet for corporate portables.

Pros: High resolution, high quality screen ; back-lit keyboard ; dual-navigation ; eSATA PCMCIA and Express Card ; ambient light sensor

Cons: Lack of dedicated numberpad ; mouse software not as configurable as it could be ; air vent on left-hand side instead of rear

Verdict:  The Dell Latitude E is a glimpse into the future of laptops. With high expandability, configureability and a strong design, it should suit most corporate environments.
