IBM Compat MS versus Apple Macbook

Cons: change, printer drivers, software availability not so extensive

After more than 27 years playing and working with IBM Compat / MS products decided to try Apple for a change. Used my inheritance to purchase an Apple MacBook 13" screen 1MB RAM 2GHz Intel core 2 duo processor 80 GB Hard drive with OS 10.4 Tiger. It was different to what I am used to. A couple of gripes - my 2 printers were not compatible with this system - I bought an Epson DX 8400 for £50 - works almost perfectly may be down to my inexperience. My wireless hub demanded a $ in front of Key to make it work. Took a while to find that info out. Installing and setting up OpenOffice free software a bit complicated. It was necessary to install and setup X11 before open office would work.
That all said I bought it brand new from Currys for less than £550. I have had it for a little over a month. I am pleased I made the purchase. It really works well with my photographs. The sound and picture quality is excellent. The DVD player is really good. The machine is light easy to use and very reliable. Not figured out how to do video conferencing without subscibing to .Mac yet? Marvelous machine to work with, I can thoroughly recommend it.
