Home-entertainment features show promise, but have significant rough edges

      By Jason Snell

Review summary: The new iMac G5s, like their predecessors, are excellent computers for home and business use alike. But early users of Front Row are bound to be as frustrated by the program's limitations as they are excited by its potential.

Pros: Excellent general-use and business Mac ; remote stows on side of iMac ; consistent organization of movies between computer and Front Row ; built-in iSight video camera ; Photo Booth software is really fun ; includes fuller featured Mighty Mouse ; ...

Pros: Built in 802.11g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. Space-saving design.

Cons: A bit expensive. DVD combo drive instead of a DVD writer.

Verdict: A more compact, affordable version of its 20-inch big brother, the 17-inch iMac should appeal to home users with a shortage of desk space.
