  Review summary: HP has a long history of producing workgroup laser printers, so we were looking forward to assessing the LaserJet 5550DN. Like most HP laser printers - and indeed most of the printers on test - the 5550DN can be added to in a modular fashion after purchas
  
  Pros: Easy network setup using Bonjour, works with both Classic and Mac OS X, plenty of upgrade options
  
  Cons: Memory as supplied in base unit insufficient to handle some jobs, LCD status panel not very informative
  
  Verdict: However, the big shock came with our next test: uniquely among our batch of test printers, the HP balked at our PDF image file. In three attempts, at both A3 and A4, all we could elicit from the printer was the message that there was 'insufficient memory'
